Random topics

Sunday was Emma's 9th birthday, so we all went over to their house for a fire pit dinner. It was fun roasting hot dogs over the fire, and then we had s'mores (but with reeses peanut butter cups instead of a hershey's bar). I actually liked the PB better than the old fashioned way.

Michael was shucking his corn on the cob to get it ready to go in the fire pit to cook, and I thought it would make a cute picture to have Ethan try to take a bite out of it. . . most people know Michael won't share food or drink out of a cup that someone else drank out of (unless it was me :) ), so when Ethan licked the corn, Michael was grossed out. I'm proud of him for just wiping it off and cooking it anyway. But it make a cute picture!

I also found a tutorial online of how to turn a plain t-shirt into a ruffled half-shirt jacket thing. It took me FOREVER to figure it all out and get it sewn up, but here's a picture of the finished project - I made it for Emma for her birthday. I also made her a couple headbands out of ribbon that turned out dang cute! It's hard to see what it looks like since it's black, but here's the link to the tutorial that has a good picture.

Also, since Ethan has moved to a big boy, front-facing carseat, his infant one is just in his closet now. The other day, he was playing in his room but it was really quiet, so I tip-toed in there to see what he was doing . . .

. . . he loves that carseat, and I think he misses it. When I found him, he was just sitting in it like normal, but he now poses for the camera instead of charging me to grab onto it.

13 week ultrasound

So a guy did my ultrasound this time . . . didn't like him. He went really fast and pushed my stomach really hard. I felt like I had been punched in the gut for 20 minutes straight. And it kept hurting for the rest of the day. I know my stomach isn't as firm as when I was pregnant with Ethan but he was brutal.

But the worst part was that he printed out crappy pictures for us. There were tons he could have done, but he printed out the heart beat (which is wonderful to listen to, but a picture of squiggly lines isn't the same). The other picture was of a couple fingers - but not a single one of the whole baby. Mean guy!! Doesn't he know that the pictures are important to be able to show everyone.

Luckily we had a DVD made of the ultrasound, so Michael spent a while trying to download the sections of it on the computer (it took 3 hours to download a software that would let us do more than just watch it as a movie).

So I don't have any pictures, but here are a couple movie clips of the baby moving.

The baby is doing barrell rolls in this 2nd clip.

It's a ????

We are pregnant again - and due Dec. 7th (same date as my brother (Alex) and his wife are due as well). I did get an ultrasound picture, but it just looks like a ball since it was from the top down of a view. Ethan's early ultrasound had a tummy view so we could see the shape of the baby. We get another ultrasound next week, so hopefully the pictures of that one will be good ones that we can post on the blog.

My mom is in Mexico on vacation in Cabo - cross your fingers she doesn't come home with swine flu :)

How does he do it?

Ethan fell asleep in the car today when I was driving home. But what was interesting was that he closed his eyes, and then yawned - which made his pacifier fall out. So with his eyes still closed, he reached down to get the pacifier and he had it about half an inch from his mouth and then he fell asleep and his arm dropped.

How does he fall asleep so fast! And how did he fall asleep while he was in the middle of putting his pacifier back in? Weird baby!

Snowy hike

While we were in Idaho visiting Nathan and Kari, we went on a hike with the group to Mesa Falls. But since there was a lot of snow and we didn't have the baby backpack to make it easier with Ethan, we only walked a little way (and Kari and I were wearing sandals - we weren't thinking to brightly. So our toes were frozen and hurting most of the time.

Here's one of my favorite pictures that we've ever taken of the 3 of us so far. Ethan tends to stand like a flamingo when he's unsure of the ground he's on. He did this the week before when I tried to put him in my parents grass barefoot. It takes a while before he will put both feet down. But I think it's a cute habit that probably won't last very long.

He looks so big here. He's only 13 months, but since he still has no hair, I think he's still a little baby. But he's walking like crazy now and even stands up by himself in the middle of a room without pulling up on something. He rarely crawls anymore.

This one goes out to my fabulous sis-in-law Kari

Kari,

I remembered the post you did about not being able to find a modest swimsuit. Well, I found a site called Lime Ricki that has cute and totally modest one piece suits and cute tankinis too! http://www.limericki.com/ and if you want to enter a giveaway contest for a free suit, click on the button link on the right side of my blog that says "30 days." The drawing ends on Tuesday, so hurry!

Here's my favorite one piece!

Here's my favorite tankini

Emma's Concert

My niece, Emma, had a choir concert last week . . . she's the one in the black, long-sleeved shirt with the camo jumper. I think she was an army ant. The other grades were bees or other kinds of bugs. She had a solo speaking part that she memorized perfectly (that's the 2nd picture).

Birthday Pictures

Here are some pics from Ethan's birthday party last week! He was okay with the cake in the beginning, but he got mad when frosting got between his fingers.

Happy Birthday!

Today is Ethan's birthday!! My little boy is 1 year old now. This past year went super fast . . . We're having his birthday party tomorrow afternoon, so I'll post pics of the event in the next couple days. Let's hope he goes wild and digs into his cake!!! I'll cross my fingers that we get some good photo ops!

Fridge Helper

We went grocery shopping yesterday, and I was putting all the refridgerated items away and turned around to grab the next bag to empty out and came to find Ethan taking all the refridgerator bisquits out that I had just put away. He did it really cute the 1st time, but of course we didn't have the camera going, so I put them away again to see if Ethan would repeat the action . . . and he did. He took them all out and then put them all away again. Almost all of them were put in standing position too, so he balanced them pretty good.

Also, I don't think I've posted on it yet, but Ethan started walking about 2 weeks ago. He's pretty stable and will walk about 4-5 feet distance before deciding to sit down again. He got a cold last week and since he's been sick, he hasn't wanted to do any walking . . . or eating for that matter. It's tricky trying to find out what foods he will eat. I think he has a sore throat cause he won't even eat the snack foods that he scarfs down on a normal day. His temp today got back up to 103 degrees again . . .
